Privacy Policy
The Short Version: Dad Saves Money is built around one core principle: your financial data is yours and yours alone. The app runs entirely on your computer. We don't collect, transmit, or have access to any of your financial data. Ever.
1. Who We Are
Dad Saves Money ("the App") is developed and published by Emergent Order Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization ("we," "us," "our"), as part of the Dad Saves America initiative.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect (and don't collect) through the App and our website at dadsavesmoney.com ("the Website").
2. What the App Collects
Nothing. The App collects no personal data, no financial data, and no usage analytics. Zero. Zilch.
Here's what that means in detail:

2.1 Automatic Update Checks
The App periodically checks for software updates by contacting our update server. During this check, the following information may be transmitted:
- Your current App version number
- Your operating system type (macOS or Windows)
- Your IP address (visible to the server as part of any internet request)
No personal data, financial data, or usage information is transmitted during update checks. You can disable automatic updates in the App's settings.
2.2 Where Your Data Lives
All data you enter or import into the App is stored in a local database file on your computer. The default locations are:

Backups created by the App are also stored locally, in a location you configure. We have no access to any of these files.
3. What the Website Collects
The Website (dadsavesmoney.com) is a static site hosted on Vercel. While the Website itself contains no tracking scripts or analytics, the hosting infrastructure may process some data:
3.1 Server Logs
Vercel, as our hosting provider, may automatically collect standard server log information when you visit the Website, including:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Pages visited and timestamps
- Referring URL
This data is processed by Vercel in accordance with their Privacy Policy. We do not actively collect, review, or use this log data.
3.2 Cookies
The Website does not set any first-party cookies. Vercel's infrastructure may use essential technical cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or analytics cookies.
3.3 No Analytics
We do not currently use any analytics services (such as Google Analytics) on the Website. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and use a privacy-respecting service.
4. Email Communications
If you contact us at support@dadsavesmoney.com, we will receive and store whatever information you include in your email (your email address, name, message contents, and any attachments).
We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry and provide support. We do not add your email to any marketing lists, sell your contact information, or share it with third parties.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:

We do not use any third-party services for advertising, user tracking, data enrichment, or data brokering.
6. Children's Privacy
Dad Saves Money is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. The App does not require any account creation or personal information, so no age-related data is collected.
If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information (for example, via email), please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
7. Data Security
Because the App stores all data locally on your computer, the security of your financial data depends on the security of your device. We recommend:
- Using the App's built-in PIN lock feature.
- Keeping your operating system and App up to date.
- Maintaining regular backups on a separate storage device.
- Using full-disk encryption on your computer.
- Securing your computer with a strong password.
8. Your Rights
Because we don't collect or store your personal or financial data, many traditional data rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are already satisfied by default — your data is on your computer and under your control.
If you have contacted us via email, you have the right to:
- Request deletion of any emails and information you've sent us.
- Request access to any information we hold about you.

8.1 For California Residents (CCPA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. The App collects no personal information. The Website's data collection is limited to what is described in Section 3 above.
8.2 For European Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights regarding your personal data, including the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because the App collects no personal data, these rights are inherently satisfied. For any data collected through the Website or email, contact us to exercise your rights.
The legal basis for processing server log data (Section 3) is our legitimate interest in maintaining and securing our Website. The legal basis for processing email communications (Section 4) is your consent, provided by contacting us.
9. Data Retention
- App data: Retained on your computer until you delete it. We have no access to it.
- Server logs: Retained by Vercel per their data retention policy.
- Support emails: Retained as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry, then archived. You can request deletion at any time.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
If we make material changes to how we handle personal information, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users through the App or our Website.
